VAN NUYS, Calif.—A man and a woman were arrested April 16 in the attempted murder of a man in Van Nuys on Friday.
An employee of a business in the 15200 block of Vanowen Street found the victim lying on the sidewalk in front of his business around 8:20 a.m. suffering from a gunshot wound to his chest, according to Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD).
The victim was taken to a hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery and was in stable condition, police said. The shooting happened several hours before the victim was found.
Detectives recovered a video recording that captured part of the shooting as well as the suspects who shot the man, the LAPD reported. On April 15, just after 6 p.m., patrol officers were conducting an unrelated investigation in the area of Harland Street and Kester Avenue when they saw two people who fit the descriptions of the shooting suspects.
Both were arrested and detectives found additional evidence that allegedly tied the duo to the shooting.
The suspects were identified as 39-year-old Javier Rosario of Van Nuys and 33-year-old Jennifer Yui of West Covina. The two were booked on charges of attempted murder, the police department reported. The firearm allegedly used in the crime was also recovered.
A motive for the shooting was not released by police as was any relationship between the pair and the victim.
Anyone with information on the shooting was asked to call LAPD’s Van Nuys detectives at 818-374-0040.
