A Florida man is in trouble for allegedly leaving his two stepdaughters behind after he got into a car accident.
Police in Haines City said Armando De Dios Cruz was driving on Jan. 21 with his 7-year-old and 13-year-old stepdaughters when he violated the right-of-way of another driver.
Cruz’s vehicle crashed into the other vehicle and rolled over.
“As if that wasn’t enough, Armando fled the scene without checking on the welfare of either child! The driver of the vehicle he hit also sustained a broken wrist. By the way, Armando does not have a valid driver’s license,” the Haines City Police Department said in a statement.
A warrant has been issued for Cruz.
He has been charged with leaving the scene of a crash with injury and child neglect.
Cristal was airlifted to Arnold Palmer Hospital while Alexandrea was rushed to the Heart of Florida Regional Medical Center. Hannah Arnold, the driver of the other vehicle, was taken to the same center with a broken wrist.
People commenting on Facebook couldn’t believe what Cruz allegedly did.
“Praying for the two children. May god heal their body’s. And for the stepfather he needs to go to jail and stay their for a long time. That wasn’t right at all,” said one user.
“Wow, very irresponsible man without a license ... He needs to pay what he done,” added another.
Added yet another, “Very wrong for him to fled ......and the law should be applied.”
