A man was shot and wounded July 22 in the South Los Angeles area, possibly during an attempted robbery at a gas station, and an investigation was underway.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, officers were sent to the 1900 block of West Slauson Avenue about 3:40 a.m. to investigate a report that a man who had been hit by gunfire had been taken from that location to a hospital in unknown condition.
The Los Angeles Fire Department reported that a person who “sought help'' around that time at Fire Station 66, 1909 W. Slauson Ave., was taken to a hospital.
KCAL9 reported that an apparent attempted robbery of a man at a gas station about a mile from the fire station turned into a fight in the parking lot, and the robbery victim pulled out a gun and started shooting.
A short time later, someone—possibly one of the robbers—sought help for a gunshot wound at the fire station, KCAL9 reported.
The circumstances of the shooting remained under investigation, and anyone with information was urged to call 877-LAPD-247.
