CALABASAS, Calif.—A 68-year-old motorist who was killed when a vehicle speeding into a parking lot in Calabasas struck a parked vehicle, pinning him between both vehicles, was identified by county authorities on Sept. 12.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as Eric Hamermesh of McKinney, Texas.
The crash occurred at about 2:40 p.m. on Sept. 9 in the 26400 block of Rondell Street, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reported.
A vehicle entered the parking lot from Las Virgenes Road, “accelerated uncontrollably” and collided with a parked vehicle, according to a department statement.
Mr. Hamermesh, who was exiting his parked vehicle, was pinned between both vehicles. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.
