SANTA ANA, Calif.—A man was shot to death Aug. 13 in Santa Ana, authorities said.
The shooting occurred at about 1:50 a.m. in the 2700 block of North Bristol Street, where the victim was pronounced dead at the scene from gunshot wounds to the upper body, the Santa Ana Police Department (SAPD) reported.
He was identified as 29-year-old Jorge Velazquez of Santa Ana.
No other injuries were reported.
County News TV reported that the shooting occurred in the parking lot outside Adolfo’s Liquor Store at 2724 N. Bristol St. Witness told the news service that they heard seven gunshots in the area.
No motive or suspect description was immediately available, but police said the shooting is believed to be gang-related.
Detectives were attempting to identify and locate any witnesses who can shed light on the death. Witnesses could be eligible for the Gang Reward Program. Anyone with information on the case was asked to call SAPD homicide detectives at 714-245-8390, or Orange County Crime Stoppers at 1-855-TIP-OCCS.
