SANTA ANA, Calif.—A 26-year-old Westminster man was charged with a misdemeanor Jan. 10 for allegedly fatally striking a 3-year-old pedestrian while driving without a license.
Marco Antonio Decastilla was charged with a misdemeanor count of vehicular manslaughter without gross negligence and was ticketed for driving without a license, according to court records.
Decastilla is accused of killing Briauna Arias of Westminster Friday night, according to authorities.
The child was struck about 6:30 p.m. Friday at Goldenwest and 21st streets, according to Westminster police Cmdr. Kevin MacCormick.
Police attempted to revive the toddler before she was rushed to Children’s Hospital of Orange County, where she died, MacCormick said.
Decastilla remained at the scene, MacCormick said.
According to the criminal complaint, Decastilla is accused of failing to yield to a pedestrian.
