LONG BEACH, Calif.—Police Sunday said they have arrested a man they believe committed a long string of business robberies and commercial burglaries in Long Beach.

Authorities suspect Tyler Isaac Cooper, 23, committed nine business robberies that began in January and ended in September, and ten commercial burglaries which began on January 1 and concluded on July 18, the Long Beach Police Department reported.

Cooper allegedly robbed the same Atlantic Avenue business on Aug. 15, Sept. 5, and Sept. 9.

“Following the arrest, search warrants were served in the city of Long Beach, and detectives seized evidence connected to the robberies,” according to a police statement.

During the recent robberies, police said Cooper would jump the counter, simulate having a firearm and would order or physically force the victim to open the register. He would then take the cash before fleeing.

Detectives were able to identify Cooper, after meeting with business owners, reviewing surveillance footage and “canvassing for additional evidence related to the robberies,” according to the police statement.

Detectives recognized Cooper on Tuesday near the 5900 block of Atlantic Avenue while conducting a follow-up investigation related to a robbery that took place the day before.

He was detained and then arrested on suspicion of robbery, kidnapping, grand theft property and petty theft. His bail was set at $510,000.

Following the arrest, search warrants were served in Long Beach and detectives seized evidence connected to the robberies, police said.

Detectives urged anyone with any information regarding the robberies to call them at 562-570-7464. Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477 or visit lacrimestoppers.org.
