LOS ANGELES—Detectives are continuing their investigation of a shooting in Los Angeles where a homeowner wounded an intruder inside his home.

The incident occurred on July 8. Los Angeles Police Department officers from the department’s North Hollywood Division responded to the 11600 block of Addison Street, in the Valley Village neighborhood around 3:10 p.m. regarding a home invasion.

When they arrived, officers learned the homeowner shot the burglary suspect inside his home, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

LAPD Capt. Kelly Moriz said the department is aware there has been “an increase in burglaries across the city.”

The suspect was taken to a hospital in critical condition and another suspect is on the loose, police said. The homeowner also suffered injuries but was not shot, Fox 11 reported.
