LOS ANGELES—A woman who allegedly stole a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department patrol SUV led deputies on a chase April 3 from Compton to Orange County, where she was eventually boxed in by other vehicles and taken into custody.

The chase began about 1:30 p.m. and led onto the eastbound Artesia (91) Freeway and into Orange County.

At about 2 p.m., the suspect exited the freeway in the Fullerton area, and headed onto surface streets, trailed by law enforcement vehicles and tracked via helicopter. The suspect drove through an industrial area and briefly stopped, but then sped away again.

A short time later, however, the suspect was boxed in by sheriff’s vehicles near Commercial and Olive streets in northern Anaheim. After a brief standoff, deputies approached the pilfered vehicle and took the woman into custody without incident.
