Malzahn was questioned by police, and he didn’t have any information to tell them. It’s unclear what relationship Malzahn and Gorospe had.
On Oct. 10, Malzahn attempted to buy items with her credit and debit cards. He might have been driving her SUV, according to ABC15, which said her vehicle was seen Monday in Phoenix. He was later arrested after a police pursuit.
Malzahn, once he was arrested, assaulted two officers and caused a cut above one of them while he tried to escape. He tried to wrap his handcuffs around the officer’s neck during the escape attempt, the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office told ABC15.
Gorospe was seen via security camera footage as she drove to the Coconino County Jail, as AZFamily reported. Gorospe planned to return home with Malzahn that night, her roommate told the news website.
On Saturday, police believe Malzahn contacted some acquaintances in Clifton “to try and get some drugs and a gun.”
Flagstaff Police Sgt. Cory Runge said that harm may have come to Gorospe after she went missing. Anyone with information about her whereabouts is encouraged to call 928-774-1414.
