Jim Carrey has been cleared over claims that he played a part in the death of his ex-girlfriend, Cathriona White, who took her own life in 2015.
White’s family sued the actor for wrongful death claiming he had given her three sexually transmitted diseases (STDs).
The lawsuits, filed by White’s mother, Brigid Sweetman, and her estranged husband, Mark Burton, have been dismissed after evidence to back the STD claims was found to be forged.
Her family members also claimed he had provided White with prescription drugs which she used to commit suicide in September 2015, that she allegedly obtained under a fake name, “Arthur King.”
Michael Avenatti, the attorney acting for Sweetman and Burton issued a brief statement, according to the Reporter, that read: “We have no further comment at this time.”
According to the newspaper, Carrey’s lawyer Raymond Boucher found that White had forged a 2011 medical record that showed she had no STDs before meeting Carrey.
It comes after the “Ace Ventura” star filed a countersuit against his accusers last year, claiming that they were trying to extort him.

“At the time I felt Cat was being exploited by Marchino,” he wrote.
He continued: “Since this new case was filed, I have discovered the depth of deception behind those false claims, the kind of deception decent people fall for, because to us, such behaviour is unimaginable. I will not give in a second time to these same fraudulent charges initiated by Cat’s husband in name but not substance Mark Burton, and her estranged mother.
“Nor am I responsible for what these desperate characters have inadvertently unearthed about the woman I adored. I was clearly blinded by my affection. Regardless, I will hold a place of empathy, and forgiveness for Cat and continue to focus on the many blessings in this life (sic).”
