Michael is an extremely dangerous category 4 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale. Some additional strengthening is still possible before landfall. The storm has 145 mph winds, enough to make it a Category 4 storm.
In a previous advisory at 8 a.m., the agency said there is a storm surge warning for Okaloosa/Walton County Line in Florida to Anclote River in Florida. A storm surge watch is in effect for Anclote River in Florida to Anna Maria Island in Florida, including Tampa Bay.
