SACRAMENTO, Calif.—Over a thousand people rallied at California’s State Capitol in Sacramento on Nov. 14 as part of the nationwide “Stop the Steal” movement to call for election integrity and to support President Donald Trump.
This was the second such gathering at the Capitol. The Epoch Times spoke with some of the rally attendees.
“I’m concerned with the corruption of the CCP. The Chinese Communist Party is putting their money into the U.S. government, and I think that there’s a lot of corruption there,” attendee Morgan Barth told The Epoch Times.
Barth, 24, said she started supporting the president when COVID-19 started.
“I heard that he pulled money from the WHO organization because it was corrupted. There was some money brought in from China to sway the votes of the U.S. ... So that caused me to really push my vote towards Trump,” Barth said.
She hopes companies will bring manufacturing back to the United States.
An attendee named Blake (an alias) said he drove up from Santa Cruz, California, to support the president.
“I realized the threats that are posed to this country, and I just want to come here to show my support and just be another voice for Trump, especially as an African American. Because I believe he’s really misunderstood,” Blake told The Epoch Times.
He said the threats he was referring to are globalism and socialism.
“I don’t agree with the policies from Biden at all. I see that the presidency has been stolen. They found ... the machines are being hacked, dead people are voting, and the whole thing is just rigged,” he said.
Blake said he wants a total recount, transparency in our government, no mandated vaccine, and a reopening of California.
The rally was organized by Freedom Angels Foundation, an organization founded in 2019. According to Denise Aguilar, co-founder, people are there for a variety of reasons—the elections, California Governor Gavin Newsom, and the lockdowns.
“We organized it because California has seen so much fraud and corruption, especially with the election [and] with the lockdowns. We’re here to say no more. We can’t survive another lockdown,” Aguilar told The Epoch Times. “So we’re gathering people together. We’re organizing by county.”
According to Tara Thornton, also a co-founder of Freedom Angels Foundation, fraud and technology play a role in corruption.
“We are looking at a new era for humanity where our technology and the connectivity of that allows for abuse of it. Whether that be apps or computer programs, that can skew an election from the ground up. This could be a school board or a county election, all the way to the highest levels,” Thornton told The Epoch Times.
“There’s a lot of conservative values that come forward in California when it votes from the heart,” Orrin Heatlie, a lead proponent for Recall Gavin Newsom, told The Epoch Times.
“California has a conservative core value root, but it keeps getting overwritten, because right now we’re experiencing what’s known as a super majority, and we’re having to overcome that with the will of the people.”
Significant Turnout From the Asian Community
Judy H., an attendee who had left China for the United States, told The Epoch Times: “We grew up in a socialist society. That’s why we’re here. We don’t like it. We hate it. We don’t want America [to be] changed to communist,” she said.Buck Suggs was born in South Vietnam during the war. His father, now deceased, always reminded him about their history.
“We lost our country to communism, so we all recognize what communism looks like. And we won’t go for that,” Suggs told The Epoch Times when he attended the rally. “Communism looks like voter suppression, using the media to tell the lies or manipulate you, telling you what they think. That’s what the North Vietnamese did during history. They controlled the newspapers, they controlled all the media, and they turned around and tried to get all the people to support them when it turned out to be all lies.”
He wants a fair and honest election with transparency.
Dawen Chen is an American citizen from Hong Kong. He’s concerned that the communist takeover in Hong Kong could happen in the United States.
“The government machine will make use of all their tools through the police security forces, the legal arena, et cetera, to silence anyone who expresses their dissent or dissatisfaction towards the government ... and to rule the city by fear,” Chen told The Epoch Times at the rally. “And I don’t want to see America [going] down the same way.”
Over 100 police officers were present to handle any violent riots. One counter-protester was arrested for hitting two rally-goers after initially being restrained by a citizen arrest. At least one other counter-protester was also arrested.
A “Stop the Steal” car parade is planned for next week in the greater Sacramento area.
