Harris to Negotiate With Central American Countries to Enforce Border Control

Vice President Kamala Harris has been tasked with demanding that Central American countries strengthen their borders and blocking immigrants who come to the southern border of the United States.

“The Vice President agreed … to lead our diplomatic effort and work with those nations to accept returnees, and enhanced migration enforcement at their borders,” President Joe Biden said in a press conference on Wednesday. “We’re already talking to Mexico about that.”

Harris will be working with “the countries that need help in stemming the movement of so many folks, stemming the migration to our southern border,” Biden said.

After the new measures were announced, Harris she said she was looking forward to the negotiations with the Central American countries.

“I look forward to engaging in diplomacy with government, with private sector, with civil society and the leaders of each in El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras, to strengthen democracy and the rule of law, and ensure shared prosperity in the region,” she said.

According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Border Patrol has apprehended 100,441 illegal immigrants at the southern border in February, representing a 28 percent increase compared to January.

Former CBP Commissioner Mark Morgan said on Tuesday that the Biden administration’s policies on the border are detrimental for the nation.

“This administration is absolutely—has dismantled everything, and everything that they’re doing is against the nation’s best interest, and I believe it’s for perceived political gain,” Morgan told Just the News.

Morgan then elaborated on unofficial illegal immigration numbers.

“I think within the last 10-11 days, they actually had a single-day encounter of over 6,000. Have you seen that officially? Has anyone in [the Department of Homeland Security] reported that? No. Six thousand! They’re averaging, now, anywhere between probably about 4,500 to 5,000 a day.”

“But here’s the truth, and here’s the stat they’re not presenting officially: 75 percent of the so-called unaccompanied minors are older teenagers—15, 16, 17 years of age,” Morgan told the outlet.

“They’re not being ripped from their parents. They’re making a tough decision on their own to leave simply because they want a better job in the United States.”
