Vice President Kamala Harris’s personal physician released her medical report on Oct. 12.

Citing Harris’s latest medical exam in April, Dr. Joshua Simmons wrote in his letter released on Oct. 12 that the 59-year-old Democrat is overall in good health.

Simmons noted in his letter, with permission from Harris, that she has seasonal allergies and urticaria, a skin condition commonly known as hives that shows up as raised, itchy red bumps on the skin.

According to Simmons, Harris has been managing her allergies with over-the-counter allergy medication and for the past three years has been on allergy immune therapy. The symptoms have since reduced “dramatically,” to the point that she no longer needs regular medication, her doctor noted.

Simmons wrote that Harris maintains “a healthy, active lifestyle” that includes daily aerobic exercise and strength training. She does not use tobacco and drinks alcohol only “in moderation.” He concluded that “Vice President Harris remains in excellent health.”

The vice president has a family history of colon cancer on her mother’s side, according to the letter.

“She has no personal history of diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, cardiac disease, pulmonary disease, neurological disorders, cancer, or osteoporosis,” Simmons wrote.

According to him, Harris has had surgery only once, at age 3.

“She is taking vitamin D3 supplementation for skeletal health,” Simmons noted in his letter.

Trump Health

After the White House released Harris’s medical report, the Trump campaign responded.

“President Trump has voluntarily released updates from his personal physician, as well as detailed reports from Dr. Ronny Jackson who treated him after the first assassination attempt,” Steven Cheung, Trump campaign communications director, said.

“All have concluded he is in perfect and excellent health.”

Dr. Ronny Jackson, former physician to President Donald Trump, in July released a memorandum on Trump’s health after an assassination attempt on the former president’s life.

The letter noted that the bullet came “less than a quarter of an inch from entering his head, and struck the top of his ear.”

Jackson noted that the bullet produced a “2 cm wide wound that extended down to the cartilaginous surface of the ear.”

Trump has noted since that the wound has healed well.

In November 2023, Dr. Bruce Aronwald, the former president’s personal physician since 2021, wrote in a letter that he conducted several comprehensive physical and cognitive exams that showed Trump’s “overall health is excellent.”

With 81-year-old Biden dropping out of the race, 78-year-old Trump became the oldest presidential nominee in U.S. history, and he would be the oldest president inaugurated if he wins a second term. He would be 82 years old at the end of the term.
