A homeowner in the gated community of Coto de Caza, Calif., says a camera captured a group ripping an American flag streamer from his home before fleeing in a car.
The incident, recorded by a Ring doorbell, happened July 26 about 5:45 a.m., said Forrest Newhall.
“One guy kind of stayed at the sidewalk and the other guy ran up to the front door, rang our doorbell and then ripped down our [flag],” Newhall told The Epoch Times. “[The culprit] ripped it off and then put it on the ground and went running… It just it seemed very odd that they would target our house.”
The doorbell camera failed to get a clear picture of the vandals, but Newhall said he planned to file a complaint with the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
He said he doesn’t know of flags being ripped off other properties, and is uncertain as to why his home was targeted.
“It seems like we were targeted just because of the timing and that many people, and it’s not even like it was a huge flag,” he said. “It was a streamer that was probably three feet long, one and a half feet wide.
“It just kind of baffles the mind that there’s people that would kind of go to that extent to planning something like that out. I don’t know if they’re Antifa wannabes or what their deal is, but obviously [they’re] very disrespectful, disgraceful, unappreciative people from my perspective.”
