As part of his newly-assigned seat on the House Oversight Committee, Rep. Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.) will zero in on the Biden administration’s handling of the crisis on the U.S.-Mexico border, according to a spokesman.
“Despite efforts by House Democrats to silence him, Congressman Gosar is looking forward to restoring government accountability that has been absent under the Biden regime and it begins with investigating Biden’s support for an invasion along the southern border in which the Congressman’s district is ground zero,” said Anthony Foti, a spokesperson for Gosar, told The Epoch Times in a Jan. 19 email.
“No stone will be left unturned,” he added.
Foti said Gosar would also focus on the Biden' family’s connection to Burisma, the politicization of federal law enforcement under Biden, the administration’s pressure on social media companies to censor speech, and the classified documents case.
Gosar and Rep. Marjorie Greene (R-Ga.) were stripped of their committee assignments by the Democrats during last Congress.
Now, as promised by new House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), the two have both been restored to multiple committees thanks to votes by the House GOP Steering Committee on Jan. 17.
Both will serve on the House Oversight Committee, now led by Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.) The committee is the main investigative vehicle in the House.
Republicans want the committee to launch extensive investigations of President Joe Biden, including the discovery of classified documents from Biden’s vice presidency in his garage.
“Joe Biden, be prepared. We are going to uncover every corrupt business dealing, every foreign entanglement, every abuse of power, and every check cut for The Big Guy,” Greene said in a statement on her new oversight committee spot.
Greene was also named to the House Committee on Homeland Security, where new chair Rep. Mark Green (R-Tenn.) has made security at the southern border a top priority.
Prior to the loss of those assignments, Greene had sought to explain those posts, apologizing for one in which she suggested the Sept. 11 attacks were staged.
Gosar, meanwhile, will return to the House’s Committee on Natural Resources. He had also previously served on the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.
He was stripped of his assignments in Nov. 2021 over a parody anime video that depicted him defeating a version of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) in battle.
Publicly, a number of prominent Democrats voiced anger and disgust at the news.
Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.), another magnet for left-wing criticism, also landed a spot on the Oversight Committee.
“They are terrified at the prospect of Jamie Comer and MTG leading investigations,” the senior GOP staffer told The Epoch Times, using the acronym for Rep. Greene.
“They know it will be relentless. But maybe they are just ready to move on to their next Democrat puppet and send Biden back to Delaware.”
