Newly released surveillance footage shows a trio of shoplifting suspects making a frantic getaway in an SUV last Thursday, and in the process dragging a security guard through the parking lot at high speed.
The incident took place at a mall in Wayne, N.J. on Nov. 30, and culminated in the shopping center security staff member hitting the ground hard and remaining motionless.
The three female suspects were allegedly observed stealing goods from the Lord & Taylor Department store in Willowbrook Mall.
“You just have to be careful. It’s the holidays. People are out here stealing – they’re desperate,“ Clemmons said. ”They’re trying to sell stuff online.”
The dramatic video shows the security guard hanging on to the door of a white vehicle. It turns and speeds up, and the man falls and hits the pavement.
The SUV drives away and the employee is left behind, not moving.
Police told NJ.com that the man reportedly sustained cuts and a concussion.
The white Nissan SUV seen in the video is reportedly a rental with New York plates, with the registration number HFE2593.
Police in Wayne describe the suspects as ranging from 20 to 39 years old, reported NJ.com. The trio remain at large and police are urging the public to help in their identification.
