Huntington Beach Expert Talk on Wetland Wildlife
Animal and beach lovers can learn more about ocean and animal conservation from Debbie McGuire, executive director of the Wetlands and Wildlife Care Center. Part of an “ExperTalk” series hosted by the Bolsa Chica Conservancy, this is a great way to learn about local geology, history, and ecology, while also learning about current-day issues relating to environmental conservation and other related fields.McGuire, who has responded to over 60 spills involving oiled avian and mammal species over the years, will be discussing the history of the center, what they do, and how they became a focal point for the rehabilitation of oiled wildlife. In addition, she will discuss what goes into caring for wildlife and the power the community has in aiding and protecting it.

Learn how to draw different Looney Tunes characters by skilled teaching artists from the Chuck Jones Center for Creativity, all while watching some of their most iconic cartoon clips! Artists and participants of all calibers are invited to doodle or draw. All ages are welcome, though children must be accompanied by an adult.Free and ticketed classes are offered, with ticketed classes for children ages 8 to 16 immediately after the free courses. There, a painting or drawing project will be featured using different media for each class with experienced teaching artists to guide the process.

Anyone who has ever wanted to be a featured artist at the Festival of Arts in Laguna is invited for a free seminar on how to apply and provide valuable information about the festival’s jury process for selection. The Festival of Arts of Laguna Beach is one of the most established fine art shows in California, which attracts over 200,000 visitors every summer. Each year, 120 Orange County artists are selected by a jury to showcase and sell their artwork during this two-month event.The seminar includes a presentation by Festival of Arts Exhibits Director Christine Georgantas, an opportunity to meet exhibitors, and a chance to find out more about the show.
