A Florida man convicted of killing two people in 1991 was executed on Wednesday night, and he told the family of the victims that it was two accomplices that killed them—not him.
“Robby was a good man and a good friend, and I let him down when he needed me most,” Hannon continued. “As far as Brandon Snider, I think that everybody knows what he did to get this ball rolling. I’m sorry things worked out like this the way it did.”
But a female family member who witnessed his execution didn’t buy it. A woman made eye contact with him and waved, “Bye.”
About 12 minutes after the execution started, Hannon was pronounced dead.
Hannon, Jim Acker, and Ronald Richardson went to Brandon Snider’s after Snider allegedly vandalized the apartment of Acker’s sister. Hannon was convicted of slashing Snider’s neck with a knife.
Hannon was also convicted of shooting Snider’s roommate, Robert Carter, six times.
Richardson cut a deal with the prosecutors in the case and testified against Hannon and Acker. Acker was sentenced to life in prison for also stabbing Snider 14 times.
“I didn’t kill anybody but I was there when Ron Richardson and James Acker did,” Hannon said during his execution.
He was the third Florida inmate to be executed with Etomidate, a sedative; rocuronium bromide, a paralytic; and potassium acetate, to stop his heart, the Times reported.
Hannon’s last meal was beef short ribs, fried potatoes, bacon, a roll, peach cobbler, vanilla ice cream, and sweet tea.
