Five people were injured in a severe car crash in Prince George’s County, Maryland, according to officials.
Fire officials on Sept. 26, told Fox5 that there were five patients, including two children, on Route 210. Two adults were trapped in the vehicle, but they were rescued and taken via helicopter to a nearby hospital.
A woman and two children were treated on the scene of the crash, according to the Fox affiliate report.
Mark Brady, a spokesperson for Prince George’s County fire officials, wrote on Twitter: “Crash involves an overturned dump truck. 5 patients that includes 2 pediatrics.” He said that lanes were closed as a result of the crash.
He added: “2nd patient extricated from a car underneath cement truck. Tow truck cancelled. 2 patients, both adults, flown to Trauma Centers. An adult female and 2 kids treated on scene and refused transport to hospital. PGFD starting to clear scene.”
The cause of the crash is currently unknown.
According to Fox5, there have been more than 60 fatal crashes along Route 210 in the past decade. There have been two this year, including one in August. Fox5 also noted that there have been more than 130 crashes that caused severe injuries on the highway. A speed camera is slated to be installed Oct. 1.
