A Border Patrol agent riding an all-terrain vehicle near the U.S.-Mexico border was injured early Tuesday when the ATV collided with a SUV driven by another agent, officials said.
The collision was reported around 7 a.m. as agents were working in an area known as Spooner’s Mesa, south of Hollister Street and Monument Road on federal property near the U.S.-Mexico border, Border Patrol and San Diego police officials said.
The agent driving the Chevrolet Tahoe called for emergency medical assistance via dispatch after the two vehicles collided, according to a statement from the Border Patrol.
Medical help arrived around 7:20 a.m. and the agent was taken to a hospital. The agent suffered injuries in the crash that were not considered life threatening, the Border Patrol said.
No other information was released about how the collision occurred or the extent of the agent’s injuries.
