A father and mother who searched for their daughter after a gunman opened fire at a high school in Florida on Wednesday are devastated after they learned she was killed.
Andrew Pollack and his wife kept calling their daughter’s phone after news broke of the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman High School in Parkland.
They rushed to the school and were waiting nearby as officers hunted down the gunman and evacuated students.
A photo of their daughter was also circulated widely online, with anyone who saw her urged to contact authorities.
Unfortunately, the parents learned on Thursday morning that Meadow, 18, was one of the 17 people left dead from the attack.
Another victim was a football coach who was lauded for shielding students from bullets.
“Donations raised here will be used to provide relief and financial support to the victims and families of the horrific shooting,” wrote the Broward Education Foundation.
“We are the ONLY 501(c)3 direct support organization solely dedicated to raising funds for Broward County Public Schools. There are no platform fees for using GoFundMe, so 100% of the funds collected after payment processing charges will go directly to the victims and families.”
