A father from Maryland said his children are afraid to go to school after his son was thrown out of a moving school bus while being bullied by another student.
“I just wish this would’ve never happened. It has turned our world upside down,” Kight told the news station.
Kight said his 6-year-old son Jacion was being bullied at Featherbed Lane Elementary. He said Jacion and his brother would sometimes come home in fear, running from their school bus back home.
One day it got worse.
Jacion told WBFF that an older student, who had been bullying him, made him go to the back of the bus. There, the older student pushed the emergency button to open the window, and threw Jacion out the window.
The 6-year-old landed on his head and was knocked unconscious.
Kight said when he learned about the incident he was “scared to death.”
“I show up, and he’s already in the back of the ambulance,” the father said.
“And I didn’t even get to talk to nobody because the ambulance was in a very big rush to pull off. So, I jumped in the ambulance. I was thinking I might be losing my child. And it was terrifying.”
According to news station, the first-grade student suffered from frontal skull fractures with small head bleed and was hospitalized for three days.
Kight said he watched the surveillance video of the bus and it shows Jacion being pushed out the window. While Jacion was in the hospital, the father reached out to an attorney, Ivan Bates.
The attorney told the news station that there could be a possible lawsuit against Baltimore County Schools if he could find evidence that the school had failed to protect Jacion.
“As a parent, I’m angry. Because as parents we send our children to school to learn and to be safe,” Bates said.
“My first instinct was to make sure he was okay. Once he was okay, and once we talked a little bit more, I knew he needed help, and then I knew I was going to take the case,” he added.
Kight said because of the incident his children approached him to say that they were scared to go back to school.
“'Do we have to go?’ And I’m a parent. I love my children. And with them saying that and the look on their faces, I can’t send them back there. I can’t,” Kight said.
Kight has contacted the police over the incident but says the police report is incomplete as the officer has not watched the surveillance video.
Jacion is still recovering from the incident but Kight said he does not know whether his son will be the same again.
In another bullying incident in Oklahoma, a student begged a bus driver to let him stay on the school bus because he was being bullied by another student. The incident was captured on video.
The bus driver refused and yelled at the young terrified boy to get off.
After he got off, the boy was immediately chased and attacked by another student.
Authorities said the video was alarming and had launched an investigation into the incident.
