Former President Donald Trump has announced he will bring back his former national security adviser Gen. Michael Flynn if he wins the 2024 presidential election. Flynn was pardoned by Trump in 2020 after pleading guilty three years earlier to lying to the FBI about speaking with Russia’s ambassador.
The announcement came on May 13 at Trump’s Doral property in south Florida as the former president live-called the ReAwaken America rally, which Flynn was attending. Trump made the promise via cell phone, sparking excitement in the crowd.

“This place is going crazy,” said Flynn, who held a microphone to the phone’s speaker as Trump called his cell phone. Trump acknowledged the crowd, many of whom had spent the weekend at his property.

The former president’s scheduled outdoor event in Iowa on the same day was canceled due to tornado warnings.

“I want to thank you all for being there, at the wonderful hotel. But you’re there for an even more important purpose,” Trump said as he addressed the crowd.

Trump went on to praise Flynn with a stream of compliments.

“I will say, General Flynn, he’s some general. He’s some man. He took abuse like nobody could have handled, and he came out bigger, better, stronger than ever before. We love him. He’s a leader. And you just stay wealthy and healthy and well, and everything. I want you to have great lives,” Trump said.

“And General, you just have to stay healthy. Because we’re bringing you back. We’re gonna bring you back,” Trump added, to cheers from the crowd.

“Well, we’re proud of you, General,” Trump proceeded to say. “I’ll tell you what, and I knew it from day one, you’re really somebody very special. And when I hear that applause in the audience … I could go on for a long time about you, but we’re very proud of you.”

“It’s less than a year and a half now. And we will make America great again. We’ll turn around our country, we’ll put America first. We’re going to have strong borders. We’re going to have cheap energy. We’re going to have everything. We were energy independent just a short while ago. We’re going to be energy ... We were going to be dominant,” Trump concluded, as reported by the Gateway Pundit.

The event also featured other speakers, such as Roger Stone, Mike Lindell, and Sidney Powell. Trump’s son Eric also attended the event.

Trump, however, has not given any indication regarding what capacity Flynn could be reinstated in.

The former president has formally announced he'll be running in next year’s election, and is currently the Republican Party front-runner.
