A fundraiser headlined by President Donald Trump’s son, Donald Trump Jr., and Jr.’s girlfriend, former Fox News host Kimberly Guilfoyle, has been canceled by the venue, according to reports, with organizers now searching for a different place.
The fundraiser is scheduled for Bozeman, Montana, on Sept. 25, for Republican Senate nominee Matt Rosendale, who is attempting to oust Sen. Jon Tester, a two-term incumbent.
Rosendale’s campaign announced the event early Sept. 18, but the venue management later in the day announced it wouldn’t host the event.
It was originally scheduled for Midtown Tavern, a restaurant on North Seventh Avenue.
‘Politically Neutral’
Jeff Wilcox, a manager at the restaurant, said that there was a miscommunication and that the restaurant doesn’t want to take a side in the Senate race.Shane Scanlon, a Rosendale spokesman, told the Chronicle that more than 200 people reserved tickets for the event and that the campaign is searching for a different venue after Midtown canceled on them.
“This race is a top priority for the Trump administration and it’s an honor to have them join us on the campaign trail,“ he said. ”President Trump is now counting on all of us to win this race so we can help him advance his agenda.”
Campaigning
President Trump campaigned for Rosendale in Montana at a rally about two weeks ago, and earlier this year visited Montana to campaign for Rep. Greg Gianforte.“[Tester] will never drain the swamp because he happens to live in the swamp,” he said during the Sept. 6 rally.
Trump won Montana in the 2016 presidential election.
They’re scheduled to fundraise for the Minnesota Republican party in Minneapolis on Sept. 24 before fundraising for Rep. Kevin Kramer, a North Dakota Senate nominee, that night; to fundraise for Rosendale in Montana on Sept. 25; to fundraise for Republican House candidate Danny Tarkanian in Las Vegas on Sept. 26; and campaign for Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas on Oct. 3.
