A dog aptly named Lucky has survived the unimaginable.
The Coonhound from Phoenix not only survived abandonment in the desert near his home, but also a bullet to the head.
Lucky is now up for adoption from the league.
Moorefield said Lucky came to them via a Border Control agent who found the dog abandoned in a very remote part of the state. He had a big mark on his forehead.
An X-ray in Bisbee, a small town near border of Mexico, revealed the mark was actually a bullet.
“It was a big 9mm and he had been shot between the eyes and that was the mark and it embedded itself in his jaw,” Moorefield said. “You can feel the indentation between his eyes and it’s so unbelievable that it doesn’t affect him.”
“Hi everyone! I’m PJ! I am looking for my forever cuddle buddy. I can be a little shy, so I think I would do best with older people who will go slow with me,” the description says.
“I would love a few short walks a day, and the rest of the time I will be happy just to hang out with you! If I sound like the dog for you, come to the main shelter to meet me!”
The adoption fee is $265 and the pet ID is 37570477.
