Police in Auburn, Washington state, appealed to the public to find an adult male and two young males who allegedly robbed a gas station clerk after he collapsed on the floor following an apparent medical emergency.
The identities of the suspects were not disclosed.
“One of the teenagers grabbed what appears to be a pepperoni stick from the counter and starts to eat it. He grabs a second one and gives it to the other teenager. The adult male then comes to the counter to purchase an item. It appears that the clerk attempts to charge the adult for the pepperoni sticks and an argument ensues,” according to Auburn police in a Facebook post on Sept. 10.
The clerk then is upset after one of the teens hands him a dollar bill.
But as he returns to the cash register, he appears to collapse on the floor.
The video footage shows the teens take the dollar bill before the adult male exits the store.
“While the clerk is on the ground unconscious, the two teenage males exit and enter the store a couple of times stealing merchandise and taking all the money from the cash register,” according to the department.
Police said that none of the three suspects who saw him fall to the ground called for help, adding that he was “on the ground dying.”
Another person entered the store three minutes later and called 911.
Clerk Collapses
“Not only just watching, they literally stepped over him as he was on the ground in agony,” store manager Angela Sharapova told KIRO-TV. “I never thought anybody could do anything like that.”She said the teens stole $178. “Going in and out three times. While he’s on the floor in agony,” Sharapova said.
“Now this guy is fighting for his life. He has three little children. He has a stay-at-home wife. We just pray to God that he makes it,” Sharapova said.
