A coalition of climate activists is threatening to disrupt the upcoming Congressional Baseball Game in an effort to pressure Democrats in Congress to pass “sweeping climate legislation.”

The event, scheduled for July 28 at Nationals Park in Washington, continues a century-old bipartisan tradition in which Democrat and Republican members of Congress play a friendly baseball game to raise money for charity.

The activists, however, vowed to not allow the game to happen, accusing the Democrat players of not doing enough to address climate change.

“Democratic leaders are failing us,” declared the group under the banner of “Now or Never,” saying that the lawmakers “mingle with billionaires and pretend everything is fine” while “ice melts” and “seas rise.”

“On July 28th, we will converge en masse on the Congressional Baseball Game,” their website reads. “If our politicians have failed to deliver, we will shut it down.”

According to the website, if there is no “strong climate legislation” by Aug. 5, the activists will “take direct action in protest of the DNC” in four key states—Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Georgia, and Arizona.

“September 30th is our last stand. On this day, Congress is scheduled to leave Washington for an extended recess that lasts through the November election,” they added. “If no major climate legislation has passed by this date, we will organize a highly disruptive, mass direct action that fundamentally disrupts business-as-usual in DC.”

The threat comes after protesters on July 4 blocked traffic on the Inner Loop of the Capital Beltway outside Washington for more than 90 minutes, resulting in a dozen arrests. Climate alarmist group Declare Emergency claimed responsibility and said they acted to demand President Joe Biden to declare a “state of climate emergency.”

In one of the videos of the incident circulated on social media, a distraught man pleaded with the climate activists, explaining that he would violate his parole and be sent to jail again if he was late for work.

“Ya'll are so inconsiderate,” the man can be heard saying in the video recorded by freelance journalist T.J. Jones for media company News2Share. “One lane, I’m asking one lane. One lane before I go to prison, bro!”

“I’m going to jail for what you do,” the man yelled as he ripped away signs held by the activists, who continued to unresponsively sit on the road. The video shows him becoming increasingly irritated and confrontational. He was eventually arrested by Maryland State Troopers.

Climate protesters’ disruptive behavior has also caused much disturbance outside the United States. On Tuesday, protesters glued themselves to a copy of Leonardo da Vinci’s “The Last Supper” at London’s Royal Academy of Arts. They spray-painted “No New Oil” next to the painting in protest of the extraction of fossil fuels.

Police said six people involved in the incident were charged with conspiracy to cause public nuisance, reported Associated Press.
