Cameron Diaz, now 45-years-old, is retired from acting, according to friend and co-actress Selma Blair.
“I had lunch with Cameron the other day. We were reminiscing about the film. I would have liked to do a sequel but Cameron’s retired from acting. She’s like ‘I’m done.'” said Blair. “I mean, she doesn’t need to make any more films. She has a pretty great life, I don’t know what it would take to bring her back. She’s happy.”
“Cameron is constantly inundated with film scripts trying to tempt her out of retirement but she’s just not interested. She’s happy, in love and wants to make the most of her freedom and free time,” a source told Daily Star.
At the Goop Wellness Summit in 2017, she revealed what may have pulled her away from acting. She recalled how the constant travel and life on film sets affected her.
Diaz also revealed at the summit why she waited until 41-years-old to get married.
“I think it’s a matter of I just hadn’t met my husband (Good Charlotte’s guitarist and singer Benji Madden), you know? I had boyfriends before. And there’s a really, really distinct difference between husbands and boyfriends. And I have a husband who is just my partner in life and in everything. Talk about two very different people! We are so different from one another, but we share the same values—we’re totally two peas in a pod. We are both just weird enough for each other,” she said, via E! News.
Before Diaz met Madden, she dated actor Jared Leto, now retired baseball star Alex Rodriguez, and pop star Justin Timberlake, among others, according to E! News.
According to the Daily Star, Diaz starred in over 40 films and is the third highest grossing leading lady in film history. Her career took off after appearing in 1994’s “The Mask,” with Jim Carrey.
