CULVER CITY, Calif.—A trailer of gifts stolen last month from a charity was recovered just in time for the holidays and a suspect is in custody, authorities said Thursday.

On Nov. 22, police discovered that Walk ‘n Rollers, a non-profit focusing on child safety, had a trailer of items stolen intended as gifts for the holidays, according to the Culver City Police Department.

“Investigators knew locating the trailer would prove difficult, but they dug in and got to work. A few weeks later, the work paid off. Thanks to the diligent work of detectives, there was a break in the case. An arrest was made, and the trailer was recovered,” the department reported on a social media post.

Finding the trailer had been a success but many scooters, bikes, and equipment were not recovered. The department said that they gathered resources and worked to replace the items days before Christmas and Hanukkah, with personnel assembling bikes and gear.

Officers delivered the bikes, scooters, helmets, and equipment to Walk ‘n Rollers head Jim Shanman. “This is just fantastic,” Shanman said to the officers delivering the gifts.

The suspect’s name was not immediately available.

“It was a team effort to rally in support of this theft victim,” the department added.
