A California man shot a police officer and two other individuals before barricading himself inside an Arcadia house for an hours-long stand off with law enforcement before surrendering late on Wednesday night.
Arcadia police Lt. Brett Bourgeous said officers were called at around 5 p.m. to a disturbance at the 2500 block of Greenfield Avenue, Acardia, allegedly between two brothers, one of whom was armed with a gun, ABC7 reported.
“Upon arrival, a subject from inside the residence began shooting at officers, striking an officer in the face,” Bourgeous said.
ABC7 reported that one of the two other individuals hit by the gunfire is a family member of the suspect and that a second officer was transported from the scene with an injured ankle.
Just before 7 p.m., the City of Arcadia confirmed that “emergency police activity” was in progress and warned residents to avoid the area.
The law enforcement agency called for anyone with information about the unfolding incident to contact LASD’s Homicide Bureau at the number listed in their statement. Tips can be provided anonymously through “Crime Stoppers” or with the “P3 Tips” phone app.
