ANAHEIM, Calif.—Authorities July 28 were working to arrest suspects in a Brea bank robbery attempt who led police on a vehicle chase to Anaheim.
Brea police called Anaheim officers at 9 a.m. Friday asking for assistance with the bank robbery suspect pursuit, Anaheim police Sgt. Jon McClintock said. When they got to Gene Autry Way and Union Street, several suspects got out and fled into surrounding businesses and apartments.
The crime occurred about 8:45 a.m. a.m. at a Wells Fargo Bank branch at 230 S. State College Blvd., according to Brea police Lt. Chris Harvey.
Brea officers arriving on scene saw the suspects and gave chase south on the 57 Freeway into Anaheim, Harvey said. The suspects dumped the getaway car at State College and Gene Autry Way, Harvey said.
The two suspects being sought may be linked to a May 4 Wells Fargo branch holdup at 2535 N. Tustin St., said FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller.
“It’s a similar M.O., similar to a robbery in Orange back in May,” Ms. Eimiller said. “They may be linked based on the M.O.”
Friday’s stickup in Brea was an attempted robbery, Ms. Eimiller said.
