A 90-year-old Texas veteran is recovering on Tuesday after a group of teens threw a chunk of asphalt through the windshield of his car.
Raymond Mikeska of Fort Worth suffered a chest injury on Sunday after asphalt came crashing down along Interstate 90. “It just happened just like that,” he told Fox 4. “My eyes, I just didn’t see it.”
The rock hit him directly in the chest as he sat in the passenger seat of the car.
Police in Fort Worth are now trying to track down the teens who are responsible for the incident.
Mikeska’s daughter Cindy Boyd said she pulled over after the rock flew through the car’s window.
“My father raised his shirt up to me,” she said. “And he was just covered in glass.”
“They didn’t run. They weren’t afraid. It did not bother them,” Boyd told Fox 4.
Mikeska said he’s thankful that he wasn’t hit in a more critical area. “It happened so quick. I didn’t expect anything like that to happen,” Mikeska told NBC DFW.
“It could have hit me more in my face, across my eyes or something like that or forced to hit my forehead,” he added. “It could have killed me very easily.”
Fort Worth police told NBC DFW that they haven’t made any arrests yet.
