A magnitude 5.5 earthquake has been recorded near Carson City, Nevada.
According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the quake struck at 3:08 p.m. PST on Dec. 9. The epicenter was recorded at 8.4 kilometers depth.
The agency estimated little to no damage from the quake.
The quake was downgraded by the USGS from an initial estimate of 5.8 in magnitude. Several aftershocks have been recorded, including at magnitudes 3.6, 3.3, and 3.0.
The quake was recorded days after a larger magnitude 7.0 quake struck off the coast of California on Dec. 5, about 400 miles away, which was also followed by several aftershocks.
