GARDEN GROVE, Calif.—A man is in custody May 28 on suspicion of critically wounding two men and injuring a third during a shooting at a restaurant in Garden Grove, authorities said.

The shooting stemmed from an argument and fight inside The Hot Restaurant at 12921 Magnolia St., according to Sgt. Nick Jensen of the Garden Grove Police Department.

Officers dispatched to the location at about 11:35 p.m. Saturday were told by patrons that the suspect was still inside the establishment, Jensen said.

“As officers entered the restaurant, they located the suspect who was being detained by patrons,” he said. “The officers detained the suspect and checked the rest of the restaurant for additional suspects and victims.”

Paramedics rushed two men, in critical condition, to a hospital. A third man was located with minor injuries to his lower body and was in stable condition, he said.

The victims were a Vietnamese man in his 30s, and two Vietnamese men in their 40s, all Orange County residents. The suspect was only described as a Vietnamese man in his 40s, also a resident of Orange County.

“During the investigation, officers learned that the victims and the suspect were patrons at the restaurant and an altercation occurred between them prior to the shooting,” Jensen said.

Garden Grove police urged anyone with information about the shooting to call them at 714-741-5422 or 714-741-5704.
