SAN DIEGO—A man was hospitalized early Thursday, June 20, after two men were rescued from a cave off of Sunset Cliffs Boulevard, authorities said.

Two men jumped into the water from a cliff on Sunset Cliffs Boulevard and were pushed by the ocean waves into a cave and they couldn’t get out, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.

At 12:38 a.m. Thursday, lifeguards and firefighters were notified from a 911 call about the trapped men.

Lifeguards went into the water along with a bystander and an off-duty lifeguard and rescued the two men from the cave at Osprey Point.

They were evaluated by medics and one man was taken to Mercy Hospital and his condition was not immediately released, fire officials said.
