Police in Texas were searching for a suspect as they began investigating a double shooting in Houston that left two teenage boys dead.
Officers were called to an apartment complex in the city’s west just after midnight on Thursday.
When they arrived, they found the two teenagers, aged 17 and 18, with gunshot wounds.
The 18-year-old was wounded in the chest and pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
His mother told broadcaster KTRK that her son had recently graduated high school and was weeks away from turning 19-years-old.
The other victim was shot in the neck and taken to a hospital, where he later died, police said.
Police officers are looking into reports of a fight in the courtyard of the apartment complex.
They’ve said the two victims were known to each other but didn’t elaborate how.
