GARDEN GROVE, Calif.—Two 18-year-olds suspected of robbing two people at gunpoint outside a Garden Grove restaurant Nov. 10 evening led police on a high speed pursuit before crashing into a flower shop where they were arrested.
The robbery occurred at 6:40 p.m. in a parking lot around Brookhurst Street and Westminster Avenue, according to Garden Grove police Sgt. Edgar Valencia.
“The victim reported that she was sitting in a parking lot eating with a friend,” Mr. Valencia said. “The suspect approached the victims and pointed a handgun at them. After threatening to shoot the victims, the suspect stole approximately $200 in cash and fled the area.”
Officers on patrol spotted the vehicle the victims had described and attempted to stop it, but the suspects fled, he said.
“The vehicle drove at a high rate of speed towards the area of Harbor and Westminster, where the driver lost control and collided with a flower shop at the south east corner,” Mr. Valencia said.
A man fled on foot from the passenger seat but was located nearby with a handgun, he said. A woman driving the vehicle was detained.
A flower shop employee was injured and was hospitalized with stable vital signs, Mr. Valencia said.
The suspects were both arrested and booked into the Orange County Jail for suspicion of multiple felony charges, he said.
They were identified as Martin Eusebio of Garden Grove and Vivian Martinez of Tustin, both 18 years old.
