LOS ANGELES—At least two people were stabbed on a Metro bus in South Los Angeles today, and a man in his 70s was taken into custody.

The stabbing occurred at the intersection of Western Avenue and 76th Street around 2:20 p.m., according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

At least two people were taken to hospitals, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department, but the extent of their injuries was unknown.

“We remain grateful for our bus operators who continue to deal with societal issues while transporting our passengers across the county,” Metro officials said in a statement.

It was unclear what motivated the attack.
