A motorcyclist crashed and suffered fatal injuries in Irvine on Aug. 3, the second such accident in the city in two days.

The crash occurred about 10:20 a.m. on eastbound Alton Parkway just west of Jamboree Road, Irvine police Sgt. Karie Davies said.

For unknown reasons, the 21-year-old man riding a Yamaha motorcycle struck a curb and a light pole and lost control of the bike, sliding down the street and hitting an idling Toyota Prius at a stoplight, Ms. Davies said. No one else was hurt in the crash.

Another motorcyclist crashed just after 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 2 at McGaw and Armstrong Avenues and sustained fatal injuries.
