DANA POINT, Calif.—Firefighters and paramedics were dispatched to two unrelated crashes that occurred at about the same time Feb. 12 on the north and southbound lanes of the San Diego (5) Freeway in Dana Point, which resulted in one death.
Both crashes occurred around 2 a.m., just south of Camino De Estrella, the Orange County Fire Authority reported.
A multi-vehicle crash on the northbound freeway resulted in a fatality at the scene and paramedics rushing two people to a hospital. Their conditions were not immediately known.
A representative from the Orange County coroner’s office was called to the location at 3 a.m., the California Highway Patrol reported.
Paramedics rushed two people to a trauma center from a crash on the southbound freeway, also just south of Camino De Estella, where another person was also taken to a hospital.
Both crashes resulted in a vehicle flipping over and landing on its roof.
