A 13-year-old California girl committed suicide on Nov. 28. Her devastated parents said she ended her life after being severely bullied at school.
Rosalie Avila was “lovable and loving” according to her mom, Charlene Avila.
“She kept a journal or a diary of the people who hurt her and people that called her ugly and just putting her down,” Rosalie’s mom told ABC 13.
The parents said that Rosalie often cut her wrists.
“I remember a couple nights she‘d come home, telling me that the kids are calling her names about her teeth. I go, ’You have braces, honey, don’t worry. The braces are going to come off,‘ and she said, ’Yeah, but my teeth are straight and they’re still making fun of me,'” father Freddie Avila told ABC 13.

“She hung herself,” Charlene Avila said. “That’s a vision you never want to see from your daughter in her bedroom.”Rosalie was taken to Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital. On Friday, she was taken off of life support.
“We had her in counseling, but I really feel like social media is such a big thing on kids,” Charlene Avila added. “I think kids don’t have the maturity to handle it.”
Both parents were tearful when speaking to the local media.
“Think about what you say before you say it because your words are going to hurt somebody,” Freddie Avila said, in tears.
Mesa View Middle School released a statement about the tragic suicide.
“No one can fathom the heartbreak and confusion that we are certain many of our students and their families are feeling right now, especially the families of those students that have been most closely struck by this event,” the statement said.
According to the GoFundMe page set up for Rosalie, she was smart and had good grades.
“She loved the beach & liked going out to the snow,” the girl’s mom wrote on GoFundMe. “She always remembered her friends birthdays and would go out of her way to get them a gift. She truly cared about people.”
Rosalie like to drink hot cocoa while watching her favorite shows and enjoyed reading and dressing up like her favorite characters.
“She’s loved by so many people & by her family. She was daddy’s girl and mommy’s princess. She wanted to be a lawyer and wanted to help the world to be a better place,” the girl’s mother wrote. “The world lost a treasure.”
