Two Children Dead in NSW Hit and Run

Two children are dead and three people injured after a hit and run near Dubbo.

Emergency services were called to Warne Street in Wellington abut 4:30pm on Tuesday after reports five people were hit by a car at high speed.

NSW Police told AAP two children have been pronounced dead, while another has been airlifted to hospital in a serious condition.

A fourth child and an adult were also rushed to hospital.

“We were confronted with an absolutely devastating scene in Wellington,” NSW Ambulance Superintendent Andrew DeGabriel said in a statement.

“It’s heartbreaking for this to happen to such a small community.”

The driver fled the scene and is yet to be located by police.

“Officers are on scene and have commenced investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident,” a spokesperson told AAP.
