PUNTA GORDA, Fla.—A Republican candidate for a Virginia U.S. Senate seat is under fire from a liberal journalist for allegedly teaching her child about Christopher Columbus.
“Can someone please call child care services on Tina Ramirez who’s teaching her child to be a racist?” Leavitt posted on Twitter on Oct. 10.
This comes in response to a tweet Ramirez made where she said she was teaching her child “real history.”
“I teach my daughter real American history,” Ramirez stated in her tweet. “I refuse to join the radical left’s campaign to erase history.”
Ramirez described herself as a “Hispanic single mother with a black daughter.”
Leavitt responded by tweeting, “Having a black daughter doesn’t make you any less racist.”
Ramirez fired back at Leavitt.
“Mighty bold and liberal of you to lecture a Hispanic mother with a black daughter on racism,” Ramirez fired back. “What’s next are you going to lecture me on women’s rights?”
Ramirez said Leavitt tied up phone lines and wasted “state resources” for what she described as “political persecution.”
“He waited an hour on hold, tying up the lines of our CPS professionals trying to help Virginia’s children,” she continued in her tweet. “The radical left is willing to put our children at risk to cancel conservatives.”
Leavitt claims that he telephoned Virginia CPS and was kept on the line for more than 10 minutes—which ended up being more than an hour—calling it “unacceptable.”
“The Virginia state hotline for child abuse is a 10-plus minute hold and is experiencing ‘high call volumes’ with 14 callers ahead of me,” Leavitt tweeted. “This is absolutely unacceptable. How many people try to report child abuse and hang up? How many children will continue to be abused?”
Leavitt then launched a barrage of tweets informing his followers of the wait times that ranged from 10 minutes to 60 minutes.
“Isn’t this a crime in Virginia?” Pushaw queries. “It’s like making a false 911 call or Swatting. Report him to the state police and AG’s office. Get him arrested. If he doesn’t face consequences, he will do it again.”
Ramirez has since filed a complaint with the Virginia attorney general’s office.
The Epoch Times reached out to Leavitt, senatorial candidate Ramirez and Jason Miyares’s office and did not receive a response by press time.
