Trader Joe’s “Rolled Corn Tortilla Chips, Chile-Lime flavor,” was selected as shoppers’ favorite item in the grocery chain’s recently released 14th annual “Customer Choice Awards.”
The chips also won the top spot in the “Best Snack” category.
Over 18,000 customers ranked the popular grocery store’s offerings in a survey taken earlier this month via polls on its podcast site and Instagram account responding to the question: “If you were to spend the rest of your life on a deserted island, which nine Trader Joe’s products would you take with you?”
According to Trader Joe’s officials, such surveys help them decide which items to beef up on stocking and which discontinued products they should bring back to shelves.
Sparkling Honeycrisp Apple Juice, only available in the fall, took home the prize for the best beverage. Runner-ups were Sparkling Peach Black Tea with Peach Juice and Non-Dairy Brown Sugar Oat Creamer.
In the cheese aisle, Cheddar Cheese with Caramelized Onions was customers’ favorite this year. According to the company, the onions in the cheese have a “sweet, french onion soup-like” flavor.
Nabbing the top spot for favorite entree was Butter Chicken With Basmati Rice, a classic Indian dish featuring chicken stewed in a curry sauce seasoned with crushed tomatoes, cream, garlic, and butter.
“I eat it, like, multiple nights a week for lunch and/or dinner. It’s so…flavorful and hits the spot every time,” Alannah Giles, a Trader Joe’s customer of over 15 years, told The Epoch Times.
The number one choice for produce was bananas followed by “Teeny Tiny Avocados.”
Additionally, customers chose Vegan Kale, Cashew, and Basil Pesto as their first-choice condiments. The vibrant green spread can be used in a variety of ways including on sandwiches, as a marinade for meat or vegetables, on pasta, and more.
And finally, for dessert: “Hold the Cone! Mini Ice Cream Cones,” won the top spot. Approximately 3 inches long, the treat consists of a baked waffle cone lined with milk or dark chocolate, filled with various flavors of ice cream, then topped again with chocolate.
