“The quality, I tell you, is excellent,” Mrs. López said.
“What we have here today from the dancers is a show of the highest category. I tell you, the orchestra, the sound it has, is something magical.”
As a theater director, Mrs. López is well attuned to the hard work and detail required by performers to successfully pull off a live performance.
“That is what attracts my attention the most—the capacity they have to transmit through their movement, their music, their expressiveness, it is an experience,” Mrs. López said.
“Here in Sevilla we had never lived it, and I tell you, it is a precious experience.”
“It attracts you,” Mrs. López said. “It is an explosion of light, color, which is a wonderful experience.”
“There is a moment when it seems that you’re like you’re in a daze—and it’s peace, serenity—and at the end it transports you to another moment and another world.”
Having received international acclaim by many famous and influential figures, Shen Yun manages to continually captivate audience members the world over with new storylines and performances each year, according to the company’s website.
Yet its mission, which is to revive China’s traditional culture—a culture that was almost lost under communist rule—remains the same.
“[Shen Yun] brings some very important cultural values to society,” Mrs. López said. “Otherwise they wouldn’t have been known.”
“It is a different, unique, special show—and a show that leaves its mark,” Mrs. López said. “It is an experience that I think you have to live once in a lifetime.”
