The monetization comes through a new channel membership program, which is still in beta mode, and an upcoming ad-revenue sharing program will be launched later this year that will also share 55 percent of revenue with content creators.
Gan Jing World, created by former Silicon Valley executives who wanted better protections for free speech and privacy online, is a content-sharing platform that supports videos, articles, message boards, and live chats.
Content creators can now create a “membership” tier for subscribers and charge for exclusive content, charging anywhere between $4.99 to $499.99 monthly. Creators need to be at least 18 years of age, have 500 minimum followers, 10 minimum pieces of content uploaded, and payouts require $100 minimum in earned revenue and occur 60 days after the end of a calendar month.
The monetization features are currently for channel owners located in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Finland, Ireland, or Japan.
Members can only subscribe from the following countries: United States, Canada, Taiwan, Australia, South Korea, Vietnam, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, or Spain.
The ad-revenue sharing program will roll out later in 2023, but will soon be tested with eligible content creators. During the testing period, eligible creators can earn 55 percent of net revenue from ads displayed or streamed by Gan Jing World.
