HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif.—With an ice rink overlooking the ocean for skaters of all skill levels, live entertainment, and more, Surf City’s “Winter Wonderland” on the pier is open to visitors until Jan. 8.

Those wanting to skate may purchase tickets for $22, and sign a safety waiver before entering. Socks and gloves will also be available for purchase at the rink at an additional cost.

“It’s just totally random to be ice skating while looking at a sunny beach,” visitor and Bellflower resident Remonda Hany told The Epoch Times. “But we’re having a blast.”

For shoppers, local artisans are also on-site showcasing their unique and handcrafted works, including colorful glass finely ground and assembled into renditions of iconic paintings, customizable bath salts and body washes, nautical jewelry, flash-frozen candies, and more.

The festival’s location also offers visitors direct access to the beach below, where locals and visitors are playing beach volleyball, swimming, and surfing. Those looking to spend the day at the festival have a variety of dining options to choose from on Main Street and neighboring streets.

Hosted by the city alongside Ice-America, a private California-based business offering portable ice rinks, the event draws thousands of visitors weekly. The festival runs from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays, and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekends.

Aside from ice skating, the festival is free to attend. Free parking is also available on some adjacent residential streets and for the first 90 minutes at the Main Promenade parking structure, located at 200 Main Street, Huntington Beach.

Known for hosting a variety of family-friendly events year-round, some of the city’s upcoming events include a free Bolsa Chica bird talk and nature walk hosted by a local group of volunteers. Those wishing to attend can attend by visiting the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve on Pacific Coast Highway, where the event will kick off Dec. 31 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
