HONG KONG—Kowloon Cricket Club (KCC) extended their lead at the top of the Triples League Division 1 table to 10 points after winning 1-7 at the Filipino Club last weekend, Jan 13.
KCC, who won their only Triples League title in 2013, defeated defending champions Craigengower Cricket Club the week before to set the pace of the competition. They faced a tricky trip away from home against mid-table Filipino Club.
All three matches were tight with KCC’s Jimmy Chiu narrowly edging out YS Leung 14:15. With Arthur Lam also beating Hong Kong International Li Ming Sum 10:15, the only disappointment for the KCC team was Danny Ho who could only draw with Stephen Sy 13:13.
Second-placed Hong Kong Football Club (HKFC) dropped four points at their new indoor green against the Youth Development Team but still lead CCC-B by a point, who beat Tuen Mun Sports Association 6-2 at home.
The Police team move into fourth place and level on points with CCC-B after winning 8-0 against CCC-A at home.
CCC-A dropped to the bottom, with only five points from their first four games.
The competition in the second division is much tighter as the point difference between the top team and the bottom team is only nine points. KCC and Kowloon Bowling Green Club (KBGC) are level on points at the top, followed by Island Lawn Bowls Club (ILBC) who are a point behind.
Women’s Triples League
For the women’s section, the race for the title remains wide open as the top five teams are only separated by four points.Seabird Sport Club defeated Tseung Kwan O Bowling Club 6-2 over the weekend and moved level on points with leaders CCC but had to settle for second with an inferior shot difference.
Defending champions ILBC drew away at KBGC to move into third place, two points less than the joint leaders. 2014 champion HKFC moved level on points with ILBC after defeating 2015 champions Shatin Sports Association 2-6 away from home.
